Mike Short
Chief Credit Officer – CoBank

Michael Short has been CoBank’s Chief Credit Officer since 2018 and has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Mr. Short joined CoBank in the spring of 2012 as the senior vice president of its special assets group. He later became a managing director of the Capital Markets Division, where he led a team that developed capital-raising and syndication strategies for CoBank customers in all areas of the bank’s business segments. He then transitioned to become its Senior Vice President of Credit Approval. In that role, he led an experienced team of second-line credit approvers who manage and monitor CoBank’s loan and credit portfolio.

Before joining CoBank, Mr. Short worked for the John Hancock Financial Services bond and corporate finance group in Boston. While at Hancock, he ran its restructuring team and was an analyst on the forest products and building materials team. Before joining Hancock, Mr. Short spent 12 years with Bank of America and its predecessors in various corporate banking roles.

Mr. Short earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and an MBA from the Roy E. Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.
